Celebrating One Year of
The Screaming Meemies
A BRIEF HISTORY
The Screaming Meemies was conceived in mid-2021 as a short film to be graded as coursework for a BTEC level three media unit. It quickly became a passion project for everyone involved and still remains one of the most ambitious projects we have ever made.
It was written between September 2021 and January 2022, being edited and altered multiple times before reaching the final on-screen version. It then went into production for three months, with filming commencing in October 2022 and wrapping in early December of the same year. It was edited in three weeks before being sent off for grading. It received a distinction grade and was labelled "one of the most ambitious and promising shorts ever seen at this level" by the exam board. It was complimented extensively for the themes it attempted to touch upon as well as the unique storytelling structure and the acting of the two lead actors. In 2023, it was released on YouTube for the purpose of acting as an exemplar to future students.
To Celebrate one year of this film's public release, the screenplay of the now-cancelled sequel "The Screaming Meemies Part II" can be found on this website, completing Matt's story along with some information on what the film may have looked like.
Happy Watching!
